Here is my first chair to go along with the table that I posted previously. Like the table, it is all maple hardwood with an oak inlay surrounded by a 1/4 inch walnut trim. My goal is to eventually have a set of 8 chairs to go with the table, each with their own individual carving. The carving on this one is a picture of the mountain that I could see out of my front window when I was growing up in British Columbia. This is the first carving that I have ever done, and I’m sorry to admit that I cheated by using my Dremel tool. If I had more time I probably would have went with chisels. Most of the joinery was done with dowels. It wasn’t meant to be that way, but my router bit the dust early on into this project and I didn’t have the time for chisel work. 1 down 7 to go!

I like the way the chair turned out. I especially like the mitered corners of the maple on the seat. Any idea how many board feet of each wood you used?

Now it is time to look back at that table.

Have your say...
