I am doing three of these trunks . They are all going to be built with birch plywood cases and the slats on top are 1-1/2×3/8 Alder wood.Measure 28×16x 23.Min-wax gel stain Antique maple and Golden Oak trim bands also interior is G.O. I used leather straps for lid

That is a sweet trunk. That last picture should have been you first picture to catch everyone’s eye!

Nice looking trunk. Double its length and you have a casket. Nice job on the coffered top.

Now that is fantastic. Guess I’m old enough to really miss those old trunks. Glad someone is keeping the style alive. Thanks for sharing.

I think I ll stay with trunks and forget caskets for time being. I wanted to build one for my grand daughter for Xmas in fact two of them and when I started it neighbor ordered one so I have to make two more.Had to do 3 prototypes for lid and settled on this style
