cherry, mostly accurate reproduction, the arch is a bit larger than the original. 3 coats oil, sanded to 800 grit.

Very nice!!!! Cherry is my favorite wood with which to work. This one has such a nice patina to it.

I love Shaker furniture. The simplistic nature really appeals to me. I had to go out and buy some Shaker music for playing in the shop when I am working on Shaker pieces. If everyone followed the “Hands to work and hearts to God” principal of the Shakers, we would have no worries about things we buy being destroyed so easily.

You obviously have a great deal of pride in your work. Keep up the great work!

the steps and cross members are nailed, as were many shaker pieces. the half d-t’s add mechanical strength.
