This was a bass that I built for Rob Icaza, the bass player from Howl.

This bass is comprised of 410 individual pieces of wood with species including cherry, wenge, purpleheart, lignum vitae, ash, maple, paduak, poplar, bamboo. This bass was probably one of the most ambitious projects I have ever attempted and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! I finished the entire thing with nitro lacquer.

You can see more process photos of this instrument here on my blog. http://holcombguitars.blogspot.com/2009/11/some-nice-pixxx.html

And I thought I was ambitious when I did a neck-thru LPDC comprised of 19 separate pieces of wood. Very nice indeed.
