I just finished a jewelry or keepsake box that is made out of white oak and bloodwood. The dimensions are 9-1/4” x 9-1/4” x 4-1/2”. The way I decided to incorporate the feet was to make 1” dado cuts in all directions at 1/4” in height and 1/2” in height which created my “steps”.

I really like the feet!

I will keep it in mind to use on one of my boxes.

Nice Box, I particularly like the ingenious method you use to make the feet, keeping it all one piece of wood, very nice job on this, thanks for sharing

ps. making available tools get the job done is an art in itself, jigs are great, and good ideas like the one You have come up with really make woodworking lots of fun

Yep, love the dado feet! Box may seem simple but the execution and joinery are excellent, wish I could do as well!

Thanks Smitty! I would like to get more advanced with each box (this is the 3rd box that I have made) and I think I would like to try dovetail joints on my next box…

Sometimes simple is the best. I’m with the rest – the feet give a bit of a cloud-lift effect. Nice.

Thanks again guys, I wasn’t expecting so much positive feedback. I’m really glad I was able to contribute something new to LJ.
