I’m not sure who first came up with this idea, but it does make for a interesting clock and conversation piece. There’s a couple versions on LJ’s, my main inspiration came from http://lumberjocks.com/projects/21266. I gotta be careful bringing it to my friend’s place, I’m not sure the NYPD will see the humor behind this project. Thanks for looking.

That’s clever. What’s holding the “Dynamite” together…electrical tape?

That’s pretty cool.

I want to build one of those also. I have the clock insert but am having a difficult time finding the dynamite.

Thanks all. The dynamite is just 1’’ dowel glued together then spray-painted red. The electrical tape is just for show, it was a last minute addition that definitely adds some detail to the “bomb”.

Very nice. I too have made this project. It’s great to take to work (if you can do so without getting in trouble). You get lots of smiles, giggles and compliments. Your sticks of dynamite are quite a bit shorter than mine…......I like yours better. Well done.
I always thought a digital clock would make this look cooler. Especially if it had a count down timer on it. None-the-less a fun, lighthearted project.

Yes I have made some of them before, they are great attention getters. The first one I made was sitting on my bench waiting for stain to dry when somebody looked in and WANTED that dynaclock right there and then. He had to come back the next when it was dry, he would have paid a lot more than I asked for it.
I made several variations afterwards and they all went as gifts.
You made a nice job of yours.

I’ve got it in my head to have an alarm clock that will push out a little piston of some kind that tosses the “dynamite” all over.

I made one of these, but I lost the “hardware”. I saw another one on here that had little brass knobs connecting the wire to the clock. I looked around three different stores and finally found them at a local hardware store. My clock has been sitting in the “to be continued” pile for almost a year. Thanks for reminding me….
Yours turned out nice. Thanks for the post.
