Here are a few cutting boards I completed recently. The first is a version of the Cafe Wall optical illusion. I saw Martyn’s (BritBoxmaker) and had to make one for myself. Thank’s for the inspiration. It is maple and walnut with cherry for the dividers. If I had it to do over (someday), I’d make the dividers a bit thinner. But it is still a neat effect.

The others are maple and cherry. Fraternal twins as I planked them out from the same two boards. All finished with mineral oil. Two Christmas gifts crossed off my list early for a change. (I don’t think I can part with the Cafe Wall one.)

Regards to all.

Owww that hurts my eyes! (The illusion part. The actual projects are very nicely done)

Bruce, those are some nice looking cutters. These are a lot of fun to build and, with changes in design or wood, the possibilities are almost limitless.

Good job, nice boards.
That cafe board is still such a goofy illusion. Amazing.

Good boards, Bruce. Thanks for the mention. Regarding the ‘mortar’ (Cherry) thickness I seem to remember from somewhere that Bristol University did some research into the pattern and its’s relative dimensions. Can’t find the link but I’m sure something will come up if you Google ‘Cafe wall illusion’
