This was a quick build for a baby shower present. Made of white pine with white oak trim. Only problem was that the lid twisted a bit when I glued on the slats. I hope the mother-to-be won’t notice. With 32 nieces and nephews I guess I will get it right before they are finished having babies!

32! holy cow. I thought I had a lot (16 nieces and nephews…and i’m only 28). The toy chest looks great! I like the “cow jumped over the moon” theme. I’m sure no one will notice the lid. We are always a lot harder on ourselves since we built it, and we notice things that others wouldnt! Thanks for sharing!

One concern with the slatted top….....from picture #2 it looks like they are the perfect size for little fingers to get stuck between or to be inserted between while some other child pushes the lid closed bending the fingers badly. I believe that is a safety closing hinge mounted in the middle…...hopefully this will prevent that.

What a great box for a quick build. The curved slatted top is really quite cool and is that a sliding tray inside? Love it.
