I got a large supply of lumber from a sawmill one day and came up with all sorts of interesting species. I built this table out of a few maple boards in the pile. The branches are hickory. The wood was actually still pretty wet when I put it all together and was wondering if it would ever split and it never did. I built it 5 years ago and it looks the same as the day I built it. I have built lots of items with wood pretty much straight from the saw mill and not kiln dried. I have honestly not had any problems as long as I get a good poly finish on the project so it can dry out slowly.

You have designed a wonderful back to nature table.
