Lure display box Lure display box Lure display box Click the pictures to enlarge them

This box was made in October of ‘06. There were many hours in this box. I made it for an auction fundraiser for a group I belong to. The box is made from oak, walnut, and ebony. There is only 1 piece of metal in this box. It is at the tip of the latch. It is a screw eye that the fishing line is tied to. The latch was modeled after a saltwater lure called “Super Spook”. To release the latch, you push on the middle of the lure. You can just barely see the release part of the latch in the third picture. The corners are box jointed and then pinned with ebony pins. The hinges are made from walnut and they have an ebony hinge pin. There are two display trays. The flounders on top are made of walnut. The redfish on the front are from maple, cherry, and walnut veneers. The box was one of the two highest bid items at the auction. The other item was a guided fishing trip for 4. I could not wipe the grin off my face for a couple of weeks after the auction…LOL

Simply fantastic! How many hours do you think you have in it?

That’s a really great box. Lots of “pro” features in it’s construction. Thanks for sharing.

The details on this box are simply amazing. The box displays a combination of craftsmanship and artistry in both its design and construction. Wow!!!! It is no wonder that it went so high in the fund raiser.

Thanks for sharing. Seeing boxes like this is really an inspiration.

Beautiful box. Whoever bid so high on the box is bragging right now about what kind of a steal they got for that thing :)
