My latest project is officially underway. It is starting to take shape. So far I have cut 18 mortise and Tenons. (I think I will use the proceeds from this commision to purchase a mortising machine). Next step is to start on the drawer.

Looking good Bfd. Any excuse to buy a new tool is a good one.

I like your proportions. Im making 3 end table similar to this. I feel you on the mortise and tennon count, and I have a horizontil mortiser. That does reduce the amount of sting. You still have to take care when sizing the tennon’s. Good luck on completing this side table. Hope to sse more pictures.

Very nice so far. It is always nice to find an excuse to buy a new tool. But collecting tools is a perk for this hobby/business.
Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures.

I’m enjoying the proportions as well, very pleasing to the eye.
Have you decided on a finish yet?

I think I am going to go with Jeff Jewitt’s technique from FWW which uses a dye followed by a pigment stain to mimick fumed white oak. The challenge is that the client has existing authentic Stickley which uses the fuming technique but I try to use finishes that have the least environmental impact and ammonia is definitely toxic.

Sure is, Quarter Sawn White Oak…Most of it reclaimed from a 100 year old Victorian.

Is this your own design or from a Stickley catalog. I do like the design and proportions.
