That’s a very nice use of a log. Looks good

Not sure what Non-LE means, but a very ‘natural’ looking smart box.

If you make another, would it be worth using a thin dowel as a ‘hinge’ pivot – inserted into a hole drilled through one side, the lid, and into the other side? It could be blind one end, so be fairly discreet, and would avoid having to use a brass hinge ?

The lid inner end might need a little rounding to enable it to move freely.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Don, LE = Living Edge, I have another planned, I gave up on this one about half way through.. seems it had sit outside too long, had rot, to soft, almost fell apart, but I went ahead and finished it to see the concept results. Did get a good slug of heart wood, maybe become a purple letter opener (knife) later. Small dowel rod will work, may drill from the inside only befor assembly, to make both sides blind. I didn’t leave lid swing room on this one and should have sealed with poly before assembly. the lid fits snug, good fit with ware space. The punked (rotten) wood soaked up all the oil finish and poly. More poly would give it a shell, but it’s still
rotted. Live and learn.
Thank you for your comments. GaryW
