This is was my first big pencil holder, holds 24 pencils with individual slots. I make much smaller pencil holders with my students so i decided to make a much larger one. I also have a big turtle, however i still need to be finished. This one was made up of 5 pieces of cherry with a walnut eye. I used the scroll saw for the slots.

I think it turned out pretty well, if i was to do more (which ive been asked to) I would probably make a pattern and use a router for the slots and make them bigger and not hold just one pencil. It was finished with danish oil and the than wipe on poly.

That is really cute, I have a friend that has hundreds of pig items in her house. I might just make her one of these for christmas.

Ever think of putting a sharpener under its tail? lol

Nice work! The individual slots are nice. When I fist saw the small picture and description, I figured there was going to be just one large cut out in the top, for pencils to loosely sit in there, like a mug. So that certainly go be a variation of this in future versions. Good luck with the rest of your litter.

Very cool. Did you use a pattern? What are the dimensions?
I have some kids that would love them.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I was thinking about making one big hole but I hate how pencils fall over too much so I did the slots. I didn’t have a pattern at all, just drew them. It got the idea by making little ones with my 7th grade students which hold 5 pencils, and thought a big one would be cool.

Hmmm, the picture seems to have been swapped? I guess I missed the original photos.
