This is the body of my basswood stratocaster style guitar. I first routed out all of the areas where the electronics and pickguard would go, then i traced my template on to the wood and cut out the overall shape of the guitar body on a band saw. I decided to go with a red gel stain for the finish and applied a thick clear coat on top.

Man that is nice. My oldest son and I were just talking about trying to build one of these this evening. I will have to give this one a try. Any advice? Did you build the neck or purchase one?

Great job. I just finished a gunmetal grey strat, so I know the feeling. I am in the midst of building two mini-PRS guitars for my kids for Christmas. Guitar building is so addicting, no wonder by the time Christmas rolls around I will have built 6 in the last year.

Awesome Guitar, and you made it sound so easy which I’m sure it wasnt, the finish really brings out the piece, good job.
