During holiday break from my design engineering job, I decided to craft something I could take back to work with me. Something to let everyone know just how much I love wood.
At work we have a stand-up meeting everyday. We have to mark down tasks for the day so I use this clipboard daily.
I chose a nice piece of Walnut with an arc of sapwood and cut it to make an even sweep across the top. This adds quite a nice bit of interest to the top, as the sapwood Walnut almost matches the heartwood oak. The Walnut at the bottom is heartwood and is in high contrast to the oak.
I’ve had many demands form my co-workers for clipboards of their own, but then mine would lose its uniqueness. For others outside my company, I’d happily make more.

Very nice idea this would be great for the shop for project plans, to keep from blowing of the table when the fans are on.

Surely there must be someone in the company you like well enough to make one for? But then you would be playing favourites I suppose. Looks like you’ve painted yourself into a walnut corner. Nice board.

Very professional. Did you rob the clip from an existing board, or did you order from somewhere?

I grabbed the clip off an ugly clipboard I found at a rummage sale.
