I got this from one of the mags.

I’ve been trying to burn through my pile of rough cut walnut. I always end up with a pile cut offs that are 6-10” long from cutting out checks, knots, etc. I had tossing them into the burn barrel but what else can be done with them? Simple little projects like this!

The extenders lengthen the reach from about 2” to 6” and they work very well. I did notice that when you release to clamp, the extender doesn’t release. They sort of form a wedge between the bar in the clamp and the work piece. I just tapped it with a mallet to release it.

I add BLO and shellack latter when I’m finishing one of the other dozen or so projects that need to finished.

Man I should have clean the top of the bench before I snapped the picture. That’s embarrassing to have a work surface like that.

That looks like a great idea. I actually have the exact same f-clamp as you.

I might have to try this.

Wow… walnut in your burn barrel?

I burn fir and alder. Hardwood is treasured on the west coast

Nice work. The idea may be borrowed but you’ve made all yours.
I agree that shops should be clean but only after a good days work. Your table looks great from here.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but your comment about burning 6” – 10” pieces of walnut made my stomach do a few quick tricks :)

Well when you have load of lumber like this:

6” pieces become a lot less attractive. And it really is pieces that you can’t do much with, checks on the ends, knots, that sort of thing. Pieces to small to even run through the planer. I guess I’ll forgo showing the other “items” that I made with those off cuts.

Now if one of you would want to donate a lathe to me, I’d be happy to glue them up into turning blanks.
