I built this writing table for a neighbor awhile back totally out of persimmon. The tree was harvested five years ago and sliced up on my sawmill. Stickered and air dried. I’m glad I cut the lumber thick because there wasn’t a straight board in the rack. I did a bunch of planing by machine and by hand to complete the cut list. The top dimensions are 24”w x 54”l x 29”h. Side slats were M/T, the base was butt jointed with glue and screws. The recessed screws were plugged. The top was secured with buttons. Many coats of BLO/mineral spirit mix for the finish.

I’ve never seen a very large persimmon tree. That will make for an interesting conversation piece. I wonder if others have the same questions I do: smell?, hardness?, how does it behave?

Beautiful table. I’ve never seen persimmon made into fine furniture.

Nice table. I never seen persimmon made into furniture either. I would have never thought of it.
