Hey yall! It has been a very very busy spring and summer at our house. I have been limited in how much time that I have been allowed in the workshop, but I did manage to cobble a few projects together.
I have been a regular/daily viewer of everyones projects, great things posted my friends congrats to all!
Here is an upright Walnut, cherry and maple jewelry chest that I gave to my eldest daughter for her college dorm room.
Details: Walnut carcass with spalted maple and cherry miter keys.
Cherry doors with walnut inlay on faces and edges.
Maple interior boxes with walnut keys and red felt bottoms and interiors. (also placed some ring inserts in a couple of boxes)
Cherry base with walnut keys
Brass hardware (not happy with the size of the hinges, wih I could have used smaller ones)
Brass spinning necklace hanger and Brass post hangers
2 coats of natural Danish oil
5 Coats of Arm-R-Seal (2 gloss 3 semi-gloss)
2 coats of Antiquax
Rare Earth Magnets for door closures.
I counted 165 seperate pieces of wood in this project! Jeesh no wonder it took me so long to complete.
I hope that it is a treasure that she cherishes long after I am around to lovingly look after her.
Thank you for priviledge of posting!
