I got the plans from a project book, The primary wood is cherry from a friends farm and sawn by another friend on his portable mill. The drawers are all dovetailed, side doors use inlaid knife hinges and are lined with yellowwood. The hardware is all Brusso brass. The tapered columns are birch. The hardest thing outside of 1/8 dovetails was a warp that developed in the top lid when we left Massachusetts and brought it to California. I used primarily hand tools for most of the work. The finnish is danish oil and wax.
I should give credit to Strother Purdy author of Traditional Box Projects (Taunton Press) for the design. Strother if you read this thanks for the inspiration. This was my first real project !
