Here is my latest venture into segmented turning. I made serveral mistakes along the way on this project and learned alot from it. The overall height of the project is 19” and the balloon is 8” tall by 6” diameter. Maple and Walnut, 293 pieces.

This is a project that has been on my mind for some time. I have a ceramic hot air balloon hanging in my family room that the wife brought home a few years back. I have always thought it would make a good project for segmented turning…..... And small ones for Christmas ornaments would also be kind of cool. Your project look very good, and has given me some ideas….thanks for the inspiration. Look for one from me here in the future for sure.

The photos do not do that justice Mike. I’m just glad you brought it to our ShowMe Woodturner’s Meeting the other night. That is a spectacular piece.
