Excellent jig. I can guarantee you now that I’ve seen this one I will never take a picture of the box jig I made. Mine looks like Jed Clampett widled it himself.
Good Job!

I second kjwoodworking’s opinion. This is a nice jig. Mine is made from a plywood scrap and 3/8” key. I can see real advantages in having an adjustable jig.
This definitely gives me an incentive to re-do my jig.
Thanks for the post.

Great looking jig. Does it have runners in both tablesaw slots?

This jig interests me too. Is there a build desciption for this one on the net or somewhere? Nice job on yours.

Thank you for your compliments. I found the plans for this in ShopNotes Projects and Plans magazine. I have not put runners on it yet. I have used it for only one project so far. It works nice. I used my miter attached with screws. Worked well.

Love the handmade knobs, and the replaceable insert.
This would be a great one for a blog of how it was made and how to use it, including some plans or drawings, since it’s “guts” are not obvious from the pictures.

Box Joint Jig – Multiple Fence System Unique jig system improves accuracy and speed when cutting box joints. Quick, interchangeable fences—each built for a specific size pin—eliminate the need to readjust jig for different box joint sizes.

Heavy-duty carriage delivers dead-on accuracy as it rides in both miter gauge slots of your table saw. Plan also includes step-by-step instructions for cutting box joints using this jig. This woodworking plan appeared in ShopNotes magazine No. 62.
Thanks for the tip on where you got this plan….

Great Jig Rob, thanks for sharing. I have purchased a few jig plans from ‘PlansNow’. It is a good site with some great ideas & free downloads for members.

Beauty, eh!
I’m making this same jig from the shopnotes plans and I’m wondering about a detail which was glossed over in the plans – maybe you can help clarify what you did. What size did you make the slots on the ‘front and back adjustment blocks”? The text doesn’t say, the diagrams don’t say and from the drawings it would be appear to be slightly larger than 1/4” – I was thinking going 5/16”. Also, what method did you use to cut these slots? Router, jigsaw? Care to describe how you did it? I’m sure I can work something out but curious what your thoughts are for the neatest and accurate way of doing this – as clearly you achieved that!
Many thanks!

Thanks Rob. I’ve got it all sorted now. I used 1/4” slots and I made them with the router table and all worked out ok. I’ve got the jig completed now and I’ll have a go at making some small boxes with it next.
Thanks

I got that same table saw Rob. What I don’t have is that awesome Box Joint Jig. I have considered attaching runners to mine once I get it set just right on the miter gauge and then removing the miter gauge. I’m hoping that would let me avoid the test tap test tap adjustment that I have to do every time I attach it. I see you do not have a dado stack in place, is it just the picture or do you nibble away at it?
