Idaho lodgepole pine

Another lodgepole chest made from our numerous dead or dying lodgepole pine. I usually avoid using pine and fir in my woodworking projects because of its softness, but I like the color or the blue staining wood. I love to create chests and I am always experimenting with reclaimed wood species. Most of my chests are proportioned wrong, but they tend to make them unique.

The handles are turned on the lathe and they have a solid feel to them as one picks up the chest. This will be raffled off at a fundraiser after it is stuffed with wine and goods.

I wish I could take better photos of my projects

Your photos are fine and your chests are great. You are right…the colors are amazing. Keep up the great work.

I really like your chest. For dome reason people have an adversity to pine, however I think it is a beautiful wood as long as it is finished to look like pine.

Richard, may I suggest http://www.nealaddy.org/node/16 – I followed just a couple of Neal Addy’s Tips (declutter, turn off flash, use lots more light) and the photos of my work improved considerably. I really like your chests – You’re doing great work
