Whipped this one out this evening. It has been on the list since I first saw it in PWW. It is an easy build out, made with edged glued pine pannels I got at the blue box. The fun part was getting Sketchup to print up the side pannel templates to scale. You can see the toy truck in the foreground.

Now for the story of why I needed to build this Tool Rack.

If you look on the support you will see what is left of a marking knife. The handle is still good but the blade is gone. In the second picture to the right of the Rack is the dust box for the miter saw. The top of it being a flat surface I naturally like to put things up there….like a marking knife. Well, let me tell you that is a bad bad idea. While cutting a board one day last year, the marking knofe fell off the top into the spinning blade if the saw. The blade of the knife broke off and went flying with a couple of small pieces hitting me. The saw blade (a very nice and new Frued) broke 1 tooth compeltely and knocked off 2 carbide tips. So do not store objects above your miter saw! I also was able to get my belt sander fixed this evening, the set screw fell out, nice and easy to fix thankfully.

Good gosh – be careful out there! So, we should all have one of these is what you are saying.
Let’s hope it keeps you alive! A good reason to build a tool rack.

Now aren’t your tools too close to that outlet?

Steve,

Honestly, I have never slipped with a chisel over a bench into an outlet…..

That is a nice cabinet, and in an evening? Cool.
