I re-purposed my old kitchen cabinets into a new workbench in the garage. Top is OSB rounded on the edges to save my forearms. Of course, it’s full of clutter and junk now.

Flippedcracker, did you have to stiffen anything in the cabinets? I have not built any cabinets but I was just wondering how that worked for you with I assume haveing moved the cabinets from somewhere else to your shop area. It just seems to me that there could be some issues especially with the section in the middle where it seems like you used two cabinets and left room for a stool so what is the pourpous for this workbench? I do like the fact that you put that stool under the workbench cause I belive that you have a space issue like most of us hobby people. Thanks for shareing!

The cabinets are attached to the frame of the bench, but the top doesn’t sit on top of them. they were a different height, so it wouldn’t have worked if i just set the top on them. there’s a 2×4 support in the back the length of the top, and the middle has supports going to that back support, so it can actually hold a bit of weight. There are posts in all the corners for support too.
The bench is mostly just a garage/whatever type bench, so i didn’t have any specific plans for projects in mind, but i hope to be doing more projects in the future.

I tried to use my kitchen for a workshop once. My wife let me know that this wouldn’t be happening again…...
