I made this box for my wife out of purplehheart with maple splines. The monogrammed tile in the middle is from Jim Shore, I designed the box around it. The Brusso brass feet are from Woodcraft. I used a heat gun to bring out the dark purple in the wood and finished it off with a water based poly.

Great Idea on the heat gun, never thought about it. It seems like it would help age it alot faster.

That is a nice trick with the heat gun. I learned something new today. I can go to bed now. I will have to give this a try
