Well I have been wanting to make one of these for a while. I didn’t want to go off anyone else’ plan so i just went into the shop and started cutting away. I just threw one board out there and totally screwed up, it was a mess. I did find out that you only angle the bottom cut, not the hole. I also tried to use a scrap piece of oak plywood, also in the trash now. The board just wasn’t looking good enough for me, it keep having tear out. I finally got it though (third times a charm?). I used a piece of pine I had laying around. It is 9 inches long by 3 3/4” wide. I stained it with minwax golden oak stain and then threw on some poly. HERE I COME CHRISTMAS GIFTS!!!!!!

Well done. I am going to have to join the club before Christmas as well. Have some folks that would enjoy them.

Nice work. What size of hole did you use? 1 1/2”?

@SASmith- I was going to use 1 1/4” bit, but it was too small. I didn’t want to go to big and I ended up getting away with 1 3/8” hole. Hopfully that will allow all wine bottles to fit. I’d probably go 1 1/2” to be safe.

Welcome to the club. When you empty the bottle, both you and your project
will have trouble balancing. hic.
