I made this for a friend, to give as a gift to his 3 year old nephew. I had my Buddy Carlton Willey who pitched for the Braves from 1958- 1962, went to the Mets, pitched for them from 1963- 1965…
Born in Cherryfeild Maine at home 6-6-1931 Lives in Ellsworth Maine now, still owns property in Cherryfeild, dosent toss a ball anymore, But we do toss down a few beers on the weekends.. The bat and stand are made of Cherry, I got the cherry from an old Pallet that some equipment was shipped on. first time I ever see a cherry pallet most pallets are oak…..

My Friends Nephew was so small when he was born that they nicknamed him Lil Bit, that is why the bat is signed, To Lil Bit… I had a glass box made to protect it,but have no pics with the glass as that was an afterthought…...

That is a great gift. Your friend’s nephew really is too young to appreciate the true meaning of the gift now (he will just see them as another toy to play with) but he will understand as he gets older. I am sure by the time he is playing Little League he will understand the real meaning of the gift. This is something that he can pass on to his children.

Great post.

Good project. Like Scott said, this will take on more meaning when he is older.
