Here is my latest almost free project. I have a friend that is a contractor. He is saving his scrap for me to use. He would just throw it away anyway. I recently came across a free brand new drill press. The drill press is about 10 years old, but it was never used. I kind of stumbled upon it by accident. Anyway, I needed a stand to put it on. I used 2X4 legs, 2X6 top supports, 3/4 plywood for the top, 2X4 bottom supports and 3/4 plywood for the bottom shelf. I secured everything with 3” wood screws. The best thing about this is the price. I maybe have 2 or 3 dollars in the whole thing, drill press included!

Brian, A belated welcome to LumberJocks.. All three of these workshop projects are a perfect start. My favorite type of stuff… simple, functional and cheap (nice recycling of scrap). Look forward to seeing more stuff in the future.

Thank you. I am in the process of putting together my shop and getting it organized. I have a small space to work with. It is a converted bedroom in my basement. I hope to have a radial arm saw in the near future. When I get everything set, I plan to start building and posting more.

Nice looking stand. Very solid looking. I look forward to seeing additional fixtures you make for your shop as you get it set up and organized.

Thank you. I want to make a drill press table next. There are so many different ideas. I need a simple plan without all of the T tracks and such things.
