I worked on this Toy box off and on over 3 months for a charitable donation to help out a single mom. It is made from a highly sought after building material MDF. It was a real struggle to find hinges to support the lid. It weighes around 30 lbs and standard Lee Valley hinges just did not have enough strength to hold it up. I had to visit a truck assessory shop and pick up two 24 lbs truck canopy hinges for it. I ended up going through four sets of hinges before I got it to stay up without falling down. I also learned not to put a lip on the lid as it acts like a paper cutter when it closed and would have chopped off your fingers rather easily. So I had to use a flush trim router bit and trim them off. I needed to make a painting templates for the name and date.
I delivered it to the receipient and got a six pack of Becks beer for my efforts.
Overall this was a giant PITA project but at least my karma level should be topped up for a long time to come.
