My wife wanted a bench for the kitchen table. She was going to buy one from Pottery Barn for about $100, but I said I could make the exact same one, with better wood, for about $30.
I used red oak because my wife wasn’t sure if she was going to paint it or satin it. She decided to paint it black, but I still liked using the red oak.
The joints are simple buscuits and I used a jigsaw for the “A” cutout in the legs.
This project was so simple I’m almost ashamed of showing it off.

Simple is sometimes the best way to make things.
Very nice job. Too bad about covering up the red oak.

Very nice bench! I may have to rip off the design :)

Agree with GaryK above. Simple does not imply ‘bad’. This is a great piece that just happened to be simple
for you to build.

Great job! Now how much of the $70 savings do you get to spend on tools?

Yes, this is a nice bench. It really doesn’t how simple or complicated a project is, you will always find an enthusiastic audience here waiting to see the post.
I agree with Gary’s comment about covering up the oak. But this is a personal taste and I recognize that not everyone shares my aversion to painting wood.
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome bench! the table leg in backround looks kool too.
You could use two benches and a table for picnic…...couldnt you?
