This year, the coordinator of my daughters vacation bible school had an idea to create a contest between boys and girls to see who could bring in the most change during the course of the week. The change was to be donated to a worthy cause. She asked me if i could build a “scale”. Like any self respecting woodworker, i thought for a minute and replied….”if its built from wood, i can probably figure it out.” The result is a rather simple design made of mape and a tinge of walnut. It was a fun little project. Though it is not a swiss watch, i built a small sliding mechanisim into the “T” so that it can be adjusted to create a more accurate measure. The kids enjoyed it and raised over a thousand dollas.

Thanks for viewing.

So, the team with the most WEIGHT in coins wins? Wow – you need to have them change all their currency into pennies! 25 pennies weigh over 62 Grams while a single quarter only weighs 5.7 Grams…......... ;-)

The scale looks great – it’s a functional piece or art!
