I wanted to make a wedding gift for a special niece of ours so I decided on this Breadbox. The plans are from a 2009/2010 Special Kitchen Issue of Canadian Home Workshop Magazine. The Box is constructed of North American Walnut and Prince Edward Island Curly Maple. The Box opens form the front or from the the top.

The top is also comes off and serves as a cutting board. One side of the board to cut bread, (the groves catch the crumbs), and the reverse side is for general chopping.
The top is finished with Mineral oil, and the bottom and side are finished with three coats of Minwax wipe-on poly.

I might go hungry just staring at the box! Very nice work and great materials.

Super box, great photography, so nice that you can re-visit it once in a while. But I think I’ll echo kiefer on the no cut future of this thing & I like the cheat on the big hole.
