These have been in the works for a while… a matching set of end tables, to match the coffee table and the entertainment center I built for my brother in law.

Black walnut, with mortise & tenon joinery throughout. The top is done with splines that I tried my best to get to contrast with the surrounding walnut.

The tenons are pinned with contrasting white oak, and the bottom shelf is walnut ply. Finish is shellac as a sanding sealer, then several coats of polyurethane for the top and wipe-on poly for the rest of the table.

Finally got them done… feels great to get them out of the shop. Looking back at the first post, I realized that I had the coffee table done 567 days ago!

These are beautiful tables and well worth the wait. I really like the splines and dowels. They look like a perfect match for the coffee table which is also beautiful. I think I’m going to try the splines on my next table. Thanks for the inspiration. I am also a fan of incorporating sapwood into the build. Did you fill the grain at all? It looks less “porous” than my walnut projects.
