Here’s a side table that I made for our reclining chair. It works great for a book and a beverage and turned out to be the perfect height. I made the whole thing out of Poplar that I got at the Big-box store for less than $20. And the teal paint was left over from a painting the wife did for over the mantle, so it matches the room color.

Good contrast. For less than $20 and your time, you won’t fine a better deal with real wood and workmanship in any store.

I really like this, I think the 2×2 poplar blanks are the best thing at the big box stores
