Now Jocks, this is not a Boomerang or Nulla Nulla or a club. If your wife throws it at you or hits you with it, it won’t come back to her (thank the Lord).
It is in fact a rolling pin. Tapered both ends. Don’t ask me how it works I just make them but my wife swears by it, she saw the design in a shop & put in an order to me.
No she has not hit me with it yet.
for those interested the wood is Aussie Silky Oak.

First, you say it’s not a club. Then, you say it’s a rolling pin. Make up your mind, will ya? ;)
Cool rolling pin though. I like it!

I can see how this would be PERFECT for rolling.. 3-point turns would be a breeze

Nice project Grumpy. But I will leave things like this to you. I definitely do not want anything like this in my wife’s hands she is a true ginger.

Now can you combine a boomerang with a rolling pin so that you just roll it across the dough and it rolls back to you by itself? :-)

Don’t show that to Carleen!!!! She doesn’t need to add to her arsenal!! Except thank heavens it won’t return if she throws it.

I have a “traditional” rolling pin, and a tapered french one along the lines of this one – which is the only one that gets use (in the proper non-threatening kitchen sense that is)

Mrtrim – it’s finished with food safe tung oil. The silky oak is not as dense or oily as English oak so the lumps are smaller when you get hit.
Miss Debbie – 3 point turns are nothing for this roller, it will go just as fast in reverse.
CharlieM1958 – What a great idea, I don’t know why I never thought of that !.
Thos – If she throws it, it will be at close range. It won’t need to come back, although if Carleen tied some string to it she could pull it back for another throw. Now we shouldn’t give the ladies any ideas should we Tom.
RobG – As I say my wife swears by it. If you want the dimensions I send me a message.
Dadoo – I am working on that one. She could tie some string to it in the meantime.
GaryK – Now keep it clean there Gazza.

Nice design. I tried a boomerang once. Had plans and everything. Well, I’m left handed and the aerodynamics are all screwed up when you throw it with the wrong hand. A boomerang that doesn’t come back, is just a stick.
Thanks for the welcome.

You know what they call a boomerang that doesn’t come back? A stick. Looks like that’s what you got there. Nice stick though. Sure fooled your wife hu? Maybe I’ll try it on my girlfriend, she’s always after me to make her up something. What’d you call it?, a rolling pin, right, gotcha.

It’s a modified French style rolling pin – it’s favored by pastry chefs because you can rapidly and easily change the direction of roll. The taper isn’t normally that extreme however…
