I built this bench for my Mother in law. She wanted a bench to be along the side of her patio. I made this just to fit the entire length of the wall. I left it for her to stain or paint to her liking. So far she says she loves it. I posted the design and build process in my blog, check it out for more detail.

Looks like a pretty solid bench. Thanks for posting the in-progress shots too.

How did you secure the butt joints? Pocket holes, screws/nails straight through, etc.?

screws straight through from the inside so as to keep all screws hidden from the face.
