Scarp wood/hardboard+screws+glue+adhesive-backed sandpapers+some shop time=Eight mitre joint gluing jigs (enough for clamping one mitre frame).
Will make eight more and use them in a coming picture frame project.
Saw Tage Frid use similar (wider) jigs to glue up a cabinet.

Yep, great and cheap helpers. I saw them used several times. The down side is that you need twelve clamps to glue a frame! Did you ever tried spring clamps?
