Here is a cherry Greene and Greene picture frame. We had some pictures done with us at a park outside, and this is one of the pictures. My wife had it blown up, and I made the picture frame. It is quite large, about 35” wide and 20” high. I was able to use one wide cherry board. Finished with BLO and some wax, it it hanging in our kitchen. In the sun for quite a few hours every day, it is now a really nice deep red. Dont know if you can see it, but there is a little strip of sap wood on the bottom edge, I love that detail.

  • Took a new picture (November 20, 2011) about 14 months after completion. The colour the cherry has turned is awesome!

You’ve probably noticed but the photographer kind of cut the subjects heads off LOL!

A very nice frame, I like the corner detail.

Wow that is really nice! I have a couple picture frames in my future and I was thinking of doing them in ‘similar’ style. I will certainly use yours for inspiration – but I wont copy it – i’m too proud to say I didn’t design something myself ;)

Thanks for sharing!

I could not and will not take credit for this design. The Wood Whisperer made one of these in a PW artical a little over a year ago(?) And he took the design from a John Hall original. I just made it bigger, and modified the curves to match the larger size.

Both picture and frame go well together. Nice job and it was a pleasure to meet you at the Valley!
