Hello again,
Have been making and refining the working functions of this style box for several years. This one is really plain with little tooling. Notice the playing card in the front top slot. Card is moved to center which trips a spring loaded catch to open the lid (secret one). There is a framed mirror on the under side of the lid which is held in place with magnets. There is a 1/2” deep compartment here below the top inlay panel secret two). Next the base of the assembly slides forward to revile the hidden drawer for your personel protection device (secret three). If you want you can slip a pin in a hole in the lower box compartment to lock the drawer in place. Most people don,t because they want to get it open quick sometimes. If you don,t tell no one will know the drawer is there. Have taken these to shows and customers have not found the tricks yet. Thanks for looking.

Man, that’s clever. I was intrigued that the plinth concealed a drawer. I hadn’t even read the text about the mechanism! Who doesn’t like a secret compartment.

I love it! Very ingenious design and beautiful wood choices. How many have you made?

Nicely done indeed. Attractive design and very clever mechanisms, and skillfully made. Perhaps the most innovative gun box I’ve seen. The spalted maple lid inset is perfect. I like this box a lot.
