I built this poplar box for my girlfriend based on an art deco pattern she liked. This one’s a bit of a cheat, I cut the top out with a laser cutter after drawing the design in a CAD program. Because I couldn’t glue over the stain on the sub-top, I attached the decorative lattice top with brass escutcheon pins. The rest of the box is real simple, just miter joints cut on the table saw.

I might do that in veneer, a very lovely pattern it is, but my auto-man brain assisted hands would find it too much work in solid wood. Score one for the machines. Keep them coming.
