Inspired by the story of the “spirit bear” of B.C’s west coast. Not polar not albino, just a white Black bear that survived the fir trade. Hopefully now it can survive the pipeline project. This is a piece of the massif 60’’ diameter ash that I have previously posted. I made this piece on August 13, 2011. Very few breaks.

This is awesome. In size and in its visual appeal. Thanks for posting. I’ll have to keep an eye out of any other huge pieces of tree you post.

This reminds me of of a quote attributed to Michelangelo when ask where his inspiration came from when sculpting David. He said that David was always in the block of marble he only removed the excess stone to reveal him.

Obviously a loose paraphrase. Thanks for posting
