Project Information
I had this shelf design in my head (that I more than likely saw on LJ's). I was looking for something to practice my dado's and my wife wanted a shelf to put dvd's and such on. PROJECT TIME!! This was a lot of fun. I battled with rounding over the curved pieces, but was persuaded otherwise. I like the end result.
I don't have a dado blade, so I just used my regular tablesaw blade. It was probably a bit more time consuming but it slowed me down enough to not make as many mistakes (or design changes). I covered the bottom, unused dado space with dark walnut (someone elses idea). The top, bottom & shelves are hickory and the sides are cherry. All the wood is either from a dumpster or from my LJ neighbor (amoon).
I used a natural stain by "Cabot. Tomorrow I will put a semi-gloss spur urethane. I was pretty stoked about my shelf, so I posted it prior to full completion…. Still working on my patience.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thank you
Robert
