Rolling pin

I made this pin while on vacation at my parents. I took some wood for my dad to use. I put a piece on the lathe and started it thinking Dad would finish it, but he decided to go inside and take a nap. Can’t blame him… it was hot in his shed. So I kept going and by the time he came back I had it finished. I was in a rush to finish it because we had to go away so I didn’t get it as smooth as I wanted to. It was fairly green and I was worried it would split if left on the lathe while away. It is sassafras coated with mineral oil. I like that it has a little sapwood in it.

Looks good Ron, I’ve been into bowls lately that I haven’t done much else. Need to put one of these on my list of things to do.

My wife wants one too
I guess there will be one coming for Christmas ,just have to figure out how to make one without a lathe.
Good job Ron and nice to hear you spent some time with your dad woodworking.

Thanks KIEFER

keifer, thanks for the comments. I want to do another with a Celtic knot in it. I’m glad I got to spend time with Dad. He is 79 so I value the time I get. I think with the router lathe you made it should be no problem for you to make one.
Adam, thanks.
