Scorching Outside; Burning Inside!

With a State-wide burn ban, I’m having a ball burning wood inside! If I had known that wood burning is this much fun , , , well, it’s like if I had known that grand kids are this much fun, I would have had them first ??! I was working up enough confidence to carve a whole bald eagle. Now I am seriously considering burning a life size whole bald eagle ! I just have to find a big enough piece of wood – for the eight-foot wingspan ! Okay, shut up, LittlePaw, you’re paining yourself into a corner!

Heck I though you were burning wood…now I find that you are a pyrography aficionado and not a pyromaniac…lol

Nice work as usual. Wondering if it is freehand or a pattern? I’m guessing from your carving that it’s freehand?

Thanx for all the compliments, LJs. I wish I could do that freehand, Doc. I got it off a magazine. I am working on shading – getting it more even and gradual . . . burnt up a lot of wood trying it! But I’ve found that it’s almost impossible on grainy wood! I wonder if there is a special technique on rough or grainy wood, or just stay away from them?

I’m thinking a torch? With a difuse nozzel? But I wouldn’t do it in the house. LOL
