Project Information

My daughter asked me if I could make a watch box for her boyfriend for his birthday, and of course I was absolutely delighted to do it for her!! Anything for my daughter !!!........ anyway, she wanted space for several watches that "collapse" and a few for the "bracelet" style watches. We went through my samples and this is the wood combination that she picked out….. I really like it !

There is room for 9 watches in each level, 6 collapsable and 3 bracelet, that should last him for awhile…..

Again, Lacewood with Wenge in the lid and for the accents, lift and dividers.
The lifts on each end of the tray are attached with hidden splines.

Dimensions are 15×9 x 5 and the finish is Watco Danish Oil and Black Bison Wax…..

Oh, and BTW, she told me he absolutely loved it and now needs to get more watches…....lol

Very nice, Gene - lovely choice of woods, subtle design … how many watches does your daughter's boyfriend have?!

A very lucky boy anyway!

What finish did you use? Also, it looks like you used the slot hinges?

Now that is what I call a watch box.

One lucky guy to receive such a nice gift.

Nicely done. I particularly like the lift design, the interior details and the tray lifts. Fine work. You don't mention what you're using for hinges? A really clean box.

Yea, you definitely did it again Gene. I have from the beginning been a fan of your style and touch with your boxes and this one most definitely doesn't disappoint. I am sure the recipient absolutely loves this! I know I for one would be proud to own this…

The wood combination is spot on as well as the craftsmanship…. Well done my friend….

P.S. I too am curious about the hinges. Think I may try something similar on my next box… Details bud… Details…lol

Great one, Gene! Always with new and well thought appointments atop great stock choices. Tell me more about the ledger strip the tray sits on.
