This is a selection of various Burl woods I have made into Necklace pendants. They are Red Malee, Stabilized maple, Regular maple, Madrone, Black Cherry, and Amboyna. I made them from bottle stopper blanks, pen blanks, and a set of too small knife scales in the case of the two black cherries. Comments appreciated. Thanks for looking!

MrsN, Thank you! I love making them and I have actually been a photographer much longer than I have been working wood. haha

Very nice! My wife might actually like something like this. Can you tell this rookie a little more about the process? What you used to cut pieces that small, choice of finish (is it safe for all finishes to spend time worn against the skin?), etc? I just realized that you do this for a living (saw your signature line), so it’s possible my ask would constitute trade secrets which you wouldn’t be comfortable sharing—no problem if that’s the case. Thanks!

Have your say...
