This is my first post. I found out about this board from another board. There are some very talented people here. I hope my projects will hold up to the ones I have seen on this site. This is one of my recent projects. It is titled “Wounded Earth”. It is made from cypress and cocobolo. There ar 6 coats of hand rubbed danish oil on it. The inside is finished with Royal Red felt.

Wow, reminds me of surrealism, Salvador Dali type stuff.

I really like pieces that make you wonder about the process used to create it.
Welcome and Thanks for sharing.

This is a very interesting and most unusual box. I like the contrast between the two woods.

Very nice.

Great looking box – judging by the works that you have submitted thus far, I’d say you fit in very well, of course everyone fits in well – we have everything from beginning woodworkers to master craftsman here.

I love the design of your box. That top piece flows nicely.

I really like your design of blending the familiar box shape with the fluid shape of the overlay. Unique, to say the least!

Welcome to LJ’s! I really like the artistry of the non-square shape on top of a simple box with what would normally be a flaw that would be cut out.
