I give up. I’ve had enough of this arogant good ol boys lynch mob club.

I remember having one of those when I was a kid. Great job. Brings back memories.

WoodCraft Magazine did a “cover article” about these in January of ‘05. It is a cool project, you just need a source for the doors.

Nice job, is that for your tool money? I need one of those.

That is a nice box. I think that most of us could use one of those. I know I could. I’m sure that I am not alone, but my wife seems to feel that her money is for her expenses and when she runs low then mine is fair game. This is even though we have always maintained separate accounts (early on we tried a joint accpimt but I guarantee if we had kept it up we would not have lasted 31 years). This is the perfect solution to put some money aside for need shop expenses without having to beg, borrow or plead your case- provided, of course, that the combination is hidden.

Thanks for the post.

Very nice remake from the past. Where did you find the PO Box fronts online?

Hawg, a post master in a small town had them a couple years ago. He posted them in the local internet classifieds. ebay sometimes has them, and I think Rockler sells some, but they use a key to unlock instead of the combination lock.

I think I’ve got a half dozen or so. But never made the banks. I guess I need to do that.

Nice job.

That’s a pretty creative use for those old doors. Ive never seen them used like this. I remember having a PO box eactly like that when I lived in Iceland.

Just FYI, Rockler seems to stock the doors now, and you can get them on Ebay too, but they’re often overpriced there.

Very nice coin banks. The more I see box joints, the more I like them.

I’ve wanted to do a project like this for awhile. I’ve seen the doors on eBay, but way too expensive. Thanks Jon, for pointing out Rockler.

Nice project, I’ve been going to make some some day.

You can get them here, at Penn State.

That is one of the best P.O box doors I’ve seen, and the box jointed box shows it of beutifully. This is something I’ll have to look into doing.
