This is a knife I made for a good friend of mine. She wanted me to make it for Fathers day. She picked the wood and blade and I put it together for her. This also has White liners on it. I’m not the best at the knives but this is one of the better ones I have done. I just get the blade blanks and put custom wood handles on them. It felt good in the hand and looked great. Her dad loved it too.

Very beautiful! That’s one of the finer looking blanks I’ve seen.

Thanks! I have done around ten I think. This is one of the best. Some of the early ones I did are great for digging in the garden, opening boxes, anything where no one but me sees them. haha. But I am trying to get better. I am working on two at the moment for some friends. They like to put me to work. haha.

Do you mind sharing where you get your blanks? I found one site that sells damascus, etc. but the prices are out of my range. I bought one on sale from Woodcraft (fixed blade) but I haven’t tackled it yet.

I made a knife once a long time ago (one was enough to let me know that I really didn’t want to do any more of them). It did not turn out anywhere near as nice as yours. You seem to really know what you are doing. Good on ya’, a fine knife well made and a real beauty.

Very nice job, S2! I like the white liners contrasting the wood, and they add a little width to the handle; those bolsters aren’t very thick. Also like the sculpting you did on the bolsters. Bertha, the blank looks like a Bearcat from Jantz supply; they’re on the www and many of their blanks are quite affordable.

THanks for the nice comments everyone! I really appreciate them. :)

Bertha, My favorite places to go are Jantz knife supply, northcoastknives, and knifekits.com. Jantz has the most selection and pretty good prices I think. They also have a good selection of handle materials. and 4thumbs is right this is the bearcat blade from jantz with cocobolo from jantz as well.

Napoleon, I do have a site but it is mostly for my pendants right now. Here is the link if your interested – S2artdesigns.etsy.com

4thumbs, Yeah the bolsters and handle material ended up being quite thin at the end but it still feels great in the hand. Its pretty thick too. Nice hefty blade but stylish as well.
