The back door of my house was an ugly [yellow primered] metal door when we moved in. I painted it but always hated it. We liked the big window looking over the deck and pond so I looked for solid wood doors with a big window. OMG, the cheapest I found was over $600. I decided I could fix the one we had but my wife had little faith. “You’ll just ruin this one and we’ll have to buy a new one anyway”. I took some 1/2” white oak wainscoating the previous owner had left in the shop attic, sanded the green stain off, glued and screwed it to the metal door, stained, polyd it and this is the result. I liked it. The filled screw holes make it look like it is pegged. What do you guys think?

It looks like a custom-made expensive door, Andy! Great job!

VERY nice job with the door there.

Great idea! Got a metal door on the front of my house that could benefit from that treatment, lol. Wonderful job!
